About the Advocacy Department

The advocacy department plays a key role in realising the project’s goal by carrying out the following activities;
 
Local Advocacy and Networking
  • Liaising and linking with other strategic partners including civil society organizations so as to  advance the work of MMPZ.
  • Creating and sustaining campaigns through coming up with campaign materials and other advocacy tools.
  • Informing the public and relevant decision-makers about its findings and to conduct public information rights campaigns that help to foster and protect the ideals contained in Article XIX of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that seek to protect and promote freedom of expression and access to information.
  • Encouraging responsible journalistic practice and a greater public awareness of professional journalism standards and why a free media environment is the oxygen of democracy.
  • Coordinating the Public Information Rights Forum (PIRF) activities.
  • Managing the organisation’s resource centre
