These reports are compiled by our monitors and are intended to outline developments that occurred  that impinge or are likely to impinge on the public’s free expression rights, which include access to information. A violation of freedom of information entails anything that unjustifiably stifles the public’s access to information by, for example, closing down channels for accessing such information, threats and harassment of media workers, or curtailing the public’s right to freedom of expression, assembly and association

PIRF December 2006

The month of December recorded a total of 17 violations – the same number of reported violations recoded the previous month.

PIRF August 2006

The period under review had a slight decrease in the number of violations reported as compared to the violations reported in July. A total of 13 violations were recorded in the month of August.

PIRF April 2006

The period under focus witnessed a slight decrease in the number of rights violations from twelve in March 2006 to seven.

PIRF February 2006

The period under focus witnessed a slight increase in the number of rights violations from seven in January 2006 to eight.
